Difference between Guild and Domestic system
Guild System
In Guild system production of goods are carried in the shops of master.
In Guild there are three classes i.e. masters, journeymen and apprentice.
There is internal trading
The scale of production is low
There were strict rules and regulations that controlled the behavior of different classes of guild.
Training could be provided to the workers of guild by the masters
The mode of production in guild system is formal
No technical changes were allowed within the guild by the masters.
Guild system is based on equality
The relationship between employer and workers is cooperative.
Domestic system
In domestic system production is carried in the homes of the workers.
In domestic system there are only two classes worker and merchant.
There is internal and external trading
The scale of production is large in comparison to guild
There were no such rules and regulations
Training could not be provided to the workers by the merchants since workers were distributed as they worked in their homes.
The mode of production in domestic is informal
Technological changes were allowed in domestic mode of production.
Domestic system is based on inequality
The relationship between employer and worker is contractual.
